How to use the database

Navigation

On the database homepage, there are links to the three different sections of the database:

  • Calendar of Events (Upcoming Report and Past Report)
  • Inventory of Activities
  • Participating Organizations’ contact details.

A navigation bar at the top of the screen of all views of the database has links to:

  • Home     - Database homepage
  • Reports  - Calendar of Events (Upcoming Report and Past Report), Inventory of Activities, and Participating Organizations’ contact details
  • Search   - Search page
  • Login     - Participating Organizations' login window to update their Events, Activity Profiles, and organisation contact details.

Viewing the Data

The Data for the Calendar of Events and Inventory of Activities is viewed in a table format. Events are listed by date. Activities are listed alphabetically by title. To view all the information of a single record in a separate window, click on an Event or Activity title.

Arranging the View

You may arrange the view of the data in the Calendar of Events and Inventory of Activities as you like. Click on the header of a column to sort the rows of records by date or alphabetically in ascending or descending order, according to the column chosen. Columns can be placed in a different order by clicking on a column header, holding the mouse down, and dragging the column to a different location in the table.

Filtering the Data

You can filter the data to see only the data you want. Click the "Show Filter" button and select the fields that you would like to view in the table. You may also filter your view of records according to a specific date or range of dates, or filter on a specific word in a particular field. Click the "Default" button to return the table back to the original default view.

Printing

To print a report of Event, Activities, or Participating Organizations’ contact details, arrange the respective view of the information as you would like and click the "Print" button. A printer-friendly screen of the view will open in a separate window. To print a report to fit on the width of one page, you may need to set your browser "Page Setup" to "Landscape".

Search

To search the database, click on the "Search" link in the navigation bar. Select which part of the database you would like to search in (Calendar of Events, Inventory of Activities, Participating Organizations) enter the text that you would like to search for and click on the "OK" button.

Update data?

Each Participating Organisation is responsible for keeping the description of their activities, events and details up-to-date. Authorised authors can update their data by clicking on the "Login" link in the navigation bar, or "Link to login page" on the lower right side of the database homepage.
